Phase III occupies the third and fourth years of the curriculum (Semesters 5-9), and consists of advanced core and elective courses and clinical clerkships. Students begin their clinical rotations in our Small and Large Animal Hospitals the summer after completing Phase II. The summer semester between the third and fourth-year is open for fourth-year students to schedule externships or in-house clerkships if available/as space allows.

Didactic Courses
Phase III didactic courses consist of required courses, essential courses and electives taken in the in Spring Semester of third year or Fall Semester of fourth year.

Clinical Clerkships
Students will complete clinical rotations at the Small and Large Animal Hospitals during the summer and fall semesters of their third year, a 32-week period, and the spring semester of their fourth year.

Externships
Externships provide great opportunities for students to gain insight into working in private practices, specialty clinics and other various locations. Students are eligible to receive academic credit for externships once they enter the clinical portion of the curriculum.
