Phase III Clinics

Students will complete clinical rotations at the Small and Large Animal Hospitals during the summer and fall semesters of their third year (a 32-week period), and the spring semester of their fourth year. All clinical clerkships at UFCVM are graded based on a pass/fail grading scale.

Before starting third-year clerkships, students must choose a focused area of concentration to help tailor their remaining DVM curriculum. The available concentrations are:

  • Small Animal Medicine and Surgery
  • Large/Mixed Animal Medicine (Equine Medicine and Surgery, Food Animal Medicine & General (Mixed) Veterinary Medicine and Surgery)

Required Clerkships

All students, regardless of concentration, must complete two weeks of each of the following courses (total of 13 credits):

Small Animal Track

Small Animal track students must complete the above required clerkships, as well as the following (2 weeks/2 credits each, total of 10 credits):
