Veterinary Business Management Association
Did you know that a recent study showed that if veterinarians used better business skills in their practice, they could improve practice income by up to 45%? The Veterinary Business Management Association was founded to address this need for more business savvy veterinarians, with the goal of helping veterinary students understand and be involved in the business aspect of veterinary medicine. Development of skills such as practice and employee management, client communication, and personal finance management will help improve veterinarians on both an individual and industry level, leading to a better client experience and continued growth of our profession.
As a student driven club, we provide our members with monthly meetings featuring speakers from around the country to supplement our education on business practices specifically related to the veterinary industry. Past meetings have included the law of professional negligence, innovation in practice, debt and financial management, and more. Our members also participate in an etiquette dinner, resume clinics, contract workshops, and have the opportunity to go above and beyond by completing the UF College of Veterinary Medicine’s new Business Certificate Program (tentatively scheduled to be available for the 2012-2013 academic year).
